Beds & Mattresses
Choosing the right mattress depends on your personal preferences, sleeping position, and body weight.
We recommend visiting our store to try out different mattresses and get expert advice from our team.
As a general guide, consider the following:
• Sleeping position: Side sleepers often prefer a softer mattress, while back and stomach sleepers may prefer a firmer feel.
• Body weight: Lighter individuals may find a softer mattress more comfortable, while heavier individuals may need a firmer mattress for proper support.
• Mattress type: We offer a range of mattresses including pocket sprung, memory foam, and hybrid models. Each has its own unique feel and benefits.
A divan bed consists of a base with the base often including optional built-in storage drawers. An ottoman bed has a base that lifts up, revealing a large storage area underneath. Ottomans are a great space-saving solution for smaller bedrooms.
The average lifespan of a mattress is around 7-8 years, but this can vary depending on the quality of the mattress and how well it is cared for. We recommend rotating your mattress regularly to ensure even wear and prolong its life.
The price of a mattress reflects the quality of the materials and construction.
Here's a general guide to what you can expect at different price points:
• £200-£500: Entry-level mattresses, often with an open coil spring system and synthetic fillings.
• £500-£1000: Mid-range mattresses with pocket springs for better support and a combination of natural and synthetic fillings.
• £1000+: Premium mattresses with high-quality pocket springs, generous layers of natural fillings like wool and cotton, and hand-finished details.
Yes, it is normal for some new mattresses, particularly those with memory foam, to have a slight odour when first unpacked.
This is known as "off-gassing" and is harmless. The smell will dissipate within a few days if you air the mattress in a well-ventilated room.
To keep your mattress in great condition, we recommend the following:
• Use a mattress protector: This will protect your mattress from spills and stains.
• Rotate your mattress regularly: Unless you have a no-turn mattress, you should rotate it every few months to ensure even wear.
• Air your mattress: When you change your bedding, leave the mattress to air for a few hours.
• Clean any spills immediately: Use a damp cloth and mild detergent to clean any spills.
A pocket sprung mattress contains individual springs that are housed in their own fabric pockets. This allows the springs to move independently, providing excellent support and reducing motion transfer.
Memory foam mattresses are made from a temperature-sensitive material that moulds to your body shape, providing excellent pressure relief. They are a good choice for people who suffer from back or joint pain.
A hybrid mattress combines the support of a pocket sprung system with the comfort of a memory foam or latex layer. They offer the best of both worlds and are a popular choice.
The size of bed you need will depend on the size of your bedroom and your personal preferences. We offer a range of sizes from single to super king. We recommend choosing the largest bed that your room can comfortably accommodate.
